Custom Neon & LED Neon Signs FAQs
A well-made glass neon sign can last 10 to 15 years or more before the tubes begin to lose their gas charge and dim. Transformers typically need replacement sooner — every 5 to 7 years is common. LED neon flex has a rated lifespan of 50,000 hours or more for the LED components.
Glass neon can be used outdoors but requires careful engineering — weatherproof housing, sealed electrical connections, and mounting that accounts for wind load. LED neon flex is generally better suited to outdoor applications due to its inherent weather resistance.
Real glass neon has a warmth, depth, and organic quality that LED simply can’t fully replicate — it’s the right choice when authenticity and character are non-negotiable. LED neon flex is more durable, more affordable, and better suited to outdoor and high-traffic environments. If budget and environment allow, glass neon is special.
